Harlan F. Weisman, MD, Managing Director, And-One Consulting, LLC
Dr. Weisman has over 20 years experience as a senior healthcare executive and physician responsible for the discovery, development, regulatory approval and launch of innovative pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, medical device and diagnostic products. Harlan founded And-One Consulting, LLC to help executives and their teams formulate and lead successful global strategies for accelerating medical product development, regulatory approval and market acceptance. Harlan also serves on the Board of Governors of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) established by the U.S. Congress as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.
Harlan was previously Chief Science and Technology Officer of Medical Devices and Diagnostics (MD&D) at Johnson & Johnson, where he steered the medical, regulatory, scientific and technology agendas for J&J MD&D, including investments in drug/biologics-device combination products, regenerative medicine, nanotechnology and health informatics. He directed the effort to open a new innovation center in China, built new capabilities in Regulatory Affairs and Evidence Based Medicine and led the R&D talent agenda for J&J.
Rutgers Fourth Annual Entrepreneurship Day - Innovate for Humanity
Building on the event's historical focus of launching and scaling high growth companies, Entrepreneurship Day 2012 is bringing social entrepreneurship to the forefront. Leveraging the power of business and technology to address the world's most pressing social issues such as disease, poverty, and climate change align perfectly with the university's mission of diffusing knowledge advancements and innovation to the benefit of society. Entrepreneurship Day has a history of bringing top speakers to Rutgers. Past keynotes include Steve Wozniak (cofounder of Apple), Bill Joy (Sun Microsystems), Greg Olsen, Mir Imran, Daniel Schulman (founding and former CEO of Virgin Mobile USA and Priceline.com), Dr. Randal Pinkett (Winner of NBC's The Apprentice Season 4), and others. Participants in this year's event include Dr. Robert Goodman (co-founder of the Public Intellectual Property Resource for Agriculture PIPRA), Prof. Ilya Raskin and the Global Institute for Bioexploration which develops new pharmaceutics from botanicals sourced from developing nations and has a system where they participate in the distribution of the proceeds, Ewa Wojkowska of Kopernik (an online IP marketplace for developing nations), Matthew Pelak of Team Rubicon (veteran services organization praised by Michelle Obama), the founders of the Intersect Fund (microfinance and entrepreneurship training nonprofit featured on CNN's American Morning), and others.

A pioneer and juggernaut in modern computing, he has received numerous awards and honors including the National Medal of Technology from the President of the United States, the prestigious Heinz Award for Technology, and was inducted into the Inventors Hall of Fame. Mr. Wozniak is credited with single-handedly designing the world's first personal computer. What is Entrepreneurship Day at Rutgers? Entrepreneurship Day brings together entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, faculty, students and alumni for a unique event designed to educate and motivate those interested in start-up ventures. James E. Malackowski is a member of the IP Hall of Fame Academy and was recognized in 2007 by Managing Intellectual Property magazine as one
of the fifty most influential people in intellectual property. In 2008, Mr. Malackowski was again named as one of the Top 50 IP professionals under the age of 45 in IP Law & Business as well as one of the 'World's 250 Leading IP Strategists' for 2009 and 2010 by IAM Magazine. Prior to forming Ocean Tomo, he served as a finance and investment advisor working with one of the Nation's oldest invest-ment banks as well as one of Chicago's largest private equity firms. He has been credited with having created some of the most successful IP transaction platforms in the world.
