Mission and Goals

Our Mission

  • To work closely and supportively with Rutgers faculty and industry to secure corporate funding for Rutgers University faculty research for the public good;

  • To identify, protect and license marketable Rutgers University inventions and intellectual property; and

  • To make available additional discretionary income to Rutgers departments and centers, for furthering University research goals.

  • To further develop University-Industry relations and to aid in the economic development of the region and the state.

Our Goals

  • Support faculty, staff and students in matters relating to the protection and marketing of their intellectual property and the pursuit of research excellence.

  • Develop a greater outside awareness of the university's research and educational programs, and of the opportunities Rutgers offers industry for research collaboration.

  • Facilitate industrial support of faculty research and of the transfer to and commercialization by industry of technology developed at Rutgers.

  • Protect Rutgers intellectual property by patents, copyrights, trademarks, and agreements.

  • License protected intellectual property to realize its commercial value.

  • Promote corporate support and technology transfer in novel areas, and economic development in the State of New Jersey.

  • Advocate the value to the university and the public of faculty involvement in basic research and the applications of research.

  • Negotiate fair and reasonable agreements in support of our missions and goals, which protect the University's fundamental interests and promote its fundamental policies.
